A Diversion

A teacher friend emailed me something today from a source she couldn't believe I had never heard of.....TeacherTube! Like YouTube but just for teachers. So I thought you all would be interested.

My friend sent me this TeacherTube video on the "3 Steps of new literacy." It's somewhat like the earlier one I posted from Kylene Beers, but with some interesting differences and ed tech suggestions. Warning though - the sound track is loud and repetitive - you may want to turn it down. Also, this TeacherTubevideo about " digital literacy."

Just clicking around, I found this cute video from New Zealand about students blogging, and this Abbott and Costello math lesson. There's also lots of History Channel clips that are usefully short. You'll see that a lot of this content is pretty amateurish, but it's fun to explore if you need a short break from, say, lesson planning. And, the comments are all from teachers, so there's no bad language to worry about.

Cheers, Anita

Taking digital literacies to the next level, I found a site dealing with virtual worlds, also known as digital worlds.
